Gasmask from World War II, just one of the many military artifacts in the collection of the Thunder Bay Museum.
The Thunder Bay Museum collects military memorabilia primarily from units created in Northwestern Ontario or from soldiers originating from the region. The collection is extensive, starting with the 1816 invasion of Fort William by Lord Selkirk and including the 1870 and 1885 Northwest Rebellions in western Canada, the Boer War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean conflict. Examples of uniforms, badges, medals, weaponry and documentation are included from these conflicts and from the peacetime formations. Included especially are the artifacts and archives of the Lake Superior Regiment.
