
On the second floor are two galleries featuring rotating displays from the Museum’s permanent collection, and travelling exhibits of all descriptions.

Where the Line Was Drawn: The Canadian Pacific Railway, Treaties, and the Reshaping of Northwestern Ontario.
25 June 2025 to early 2026
This exhibit focuses on the early history of the C.P.R. in Northwestern Ontario and its significant impacts and effects on the area into the twentieth century. The exhibit takes the space of both galleries on the second floor and runs until early 2026.

Finnish Labour Temple: Remembering a Thunder Bay Icon
Located on the Museum’s second-floor corridor is the anticipated exhibit Finnish Labour Temple: Remembering a Thunder Bay Icon. Visitors to the exhibit will be able to learn more about the iconic building’s history in relation to both Thunder Bay and the Finnish community. On display are artifacts, photographs, and text in English, French and Finnish.
This exhibit is funded by Parks Canada and supported with archival material by the Lakehead University Archives.

En Plein Air: Silver Islet Village and Mine
December 9, 2025 – March 22, 2026
Organized by local artist Irene Warmenhoven, a group of artists gathered to participate in a second iteration of Irene’s “En Plein Air” painting workshop, this time in the former mining community of Silver Islet. Featured in this display are the works of 14 artists who attended the workshop.
