Engage youth in promoting and sharing the stories of Indigenous veterans from Northwestern Ontario. This internship is part of a larger project focused on the development and circulation of a travelling exhibit about Indigenous veterans. Interns will travel to pow-wows and community events across the region, setting up interactive booths to raise awareness about the development of this travelling exhibit as well as travelling with the completed exhibit.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the setup and takedown of the traveling exhibit at various locations.
  • Deliver educational programming and presentations related to the exhibit.
  • Engage with community members, including Indigenous Elders, veterans, and youth, to facilitate meaningful interactions and discussions.
  • Coordinate logistics for exhibit transportation and scheduling.
  • Promote the exhibit through social media, local media, and community outreach.
  • Collect feedback and data to help evaluate the success of the exhibit.

Duration: 16 weeks
Wage: $18.70/hour

To assist the Curator/Archivist with a project to increase web-based access to a large volume of digitized media in various formats.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and re-catalogue previously digitized photographs.
  • Continuously upload photographs to a web-based platform.
  • Research and catalogue previously transferred film footage.
  • Upload film footage to a web-based platform for external access.
  • Upload previously digitized newspapers to a web-based platform.
  • Utilize social media and/or draft historical small articles to update on the progress of the project and highlight notable collections.

Duration: Casual contract, part time
Wage: $25.00/hour

The Thunder Bay Museum is seeking a Special Events Coordinator to join our team for a casual contract. In this role, you will use your expert communication skills and keen initiative to create and manage unique fundraising event opportunities developing relationships with potential donors and sponsors. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, you will hone your speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while moving the Thunder Bay Museum closer to its financial goals.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, organized, and have an aptitude for planning. We are seeking someone who believes in The Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society’s mission and will demonstrate exceptional drive to further our existing fundraising efforts and help strategize and deliver new ones.

Duration: 8-12 hours per week
Wage: $17.20/hour

The Thunder Bay Museum is seeking a weekend receptionist who will be responsible for Museum admissions and gift shop sales on Saturday and Sunday on an as-needed basis. This position is casual and may only require occasional weekend availability.

We’re seeking a creative and dynamic educator to design and deliver innovative programs for schools, families, and community groups.
