The Thunder Bay Museum is working to establish a small Four Medicine Garden on its grounds — a space dedicated to the traditional Anishinaabe medicines: tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, and cedar. This initiative is being guided by our Indigenous Advisory Group and is part of our broader commitment to truth and reconciliation, cultural inclusion, and land-based learning.
To make this vision a reality, we are currently seeking in-kind donations of services and materials to modify the site.
We are seeking support for:
- Landscaping and hardscaping services (e.g. soil removal, ground prep, edging, drainage)
- Concrete modification or removal, to open space for planting
- Construction materials for pathways, stone borders, or low fencing
- Interpretive signage, including a plaque explaining the medicines and their cultural significance
This will be a modest but meaningful space — one that invites reflection, education, and respect for Indigenous knowledge and tradition.

- Donate materials (soil, gravel, edging, signage supplies)
